Roy D. Hefley Sr.,56, of Fort Dodge passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 19, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2023 at Lighthouse Ministries Church. A visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Roy was born September 3, 1966 and was a lifelong resident of Fort Dodge. He was a self taught master carpenter and was employed at Fletchers Wood Products, Inc. Roy was not only an excellent carpenter, he loved to create unique items for those he loved and others. He enjoyed camping and riding his bike. He had a great sense of humor and was a consummate jokester.

He is survived by his wife Sherri of 35 years, son Zampano (Amelia) Elegy and granddaughter Calyse Elegy all of Iowa Falls, IA, sister Lori Bartmess of Overland Park, KS, brother Allen (Michelle) Hefley of Riverside, MO, father and mother-in-law Robert and Karolee Dorsey of Fort Dodge, sister and brothers-in-law, Bobbie Lassiter of Fort Dodge, Brian (Tara) Dorsey of Springfield, MO, Todd Dorsey of Owatonna, MN, Corbet (Shari) Dorsey of Papillion, NE, nieces, nephews and many business associates.

Memorial may be left to family discretion.
