Monte Dorothy of Fort Dodge, son of Alton and Doloris Dorothy was born February 21, 1956. He went home Sunday, March 5, 2023.
Monte graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1974. In 1976, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served for five years in England and Arizona. In April of 1987, Monte married Judy Derrig. To this union twins, Tina and Troy where born. After returning to Fort Dodge, Monte worked for Georgia Pacific. He was a mechanic, electrician, and worked maintenance for 48 years and made many friendships at GP. Monte enjoyed time spent at the Anderson Station and the movie theater. He had a natural talent for fixing things.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Judy, children Tina, Troy, and Mike, siblings Julie Stanley, Alton (Patty) Dorothy, five grandchildren Addy, Jameson, Destanee, Dustyn, the future Shealyn, seven nephews, and three nieces.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites. A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be left to the family's discretion.
