Tim is survived by his wife, Sara; daughters, Kari O'Leary (Shawn Olsen) of Roseville, MN and Molly (Travis) McAvaddy of Johnston, IA; grandchildren, Daisha, Murphy, and Finley McAvaddy and Osley and Evan Olsen; siblings, Mary (Bill) Woehl, David (Judy) O'Leary, Colleen (Hugh) Spillman, Denny (Bonnie) O'Leary, Jeanne (Dennis) Woolman, Joan O'Leary, and Julie (Rich) Minikis; in-laws, Peg and Dic Fitzgerald, PJ Rodenborn, Matt Rodenborn, Paul Rodenborn, Katie McKay and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Bud" and Lorayne (Mallinger) O'Leary and in-laws, Pete and Margie Rodenborn.
Timothy James O'Leary was born July 8, 1954 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from high school in 1972. He then went on to attend Iowa Central Community College. IN 1975, he married his high school sweetheart, Sara Rodenborn. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Tim worked for Hawkeye Painting and then Fort Dodge Community Schools as a master craftsman painter until his retirement in 2017. Tim was a founding and honorary member of the Lizard Creek Blues Society. He had a love for all things music, playing the guitar and especially Bruce Springsteen. Tim would say his biggest accomplishment in life would be his family. He wore the love he had for his wife and two daughters as a badge of honor. His most defining role in life, would be of grandpa.
"He was our Papa Bear."

I got the pleasure to meet Tim in 2005 when I starting working at the fd schools. Tim was a great friend from then on. When Tim retired in 2017 I was given the choice to take over for him and I knew I had some big shoes to fill! We will certainly and sadly miss Tim coming back into the shop Weekly with all the laughs and the great advice and peptalk he gave me!! Truly a man that’s gone way too soon!!

Tim was the best painter I ever seen he was truly a master at his craft. He shared his knowledge willingly and freely always wanting to help me out on any problems I had. On a personal note he had a sparkle in his eye and a zest for life. I will miss him he left this plane of existence way too early

For Sara, family, and Tim's friends, Tim was my friend through the school district. He always had time to talk to me as he worked his magic with paint throughout the years at FDSH. We loved to talk about the Eagles music group and his love for the blues. I could always count on his friendship.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Jan Deal
