William "Bill" Granger, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Friendship Haven. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 22nd at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the church. William is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginny", son Dr. William Granger (Deb) of Rockford, MI; daughters Sandra (Clark) Fletcher of Fort Dodge, IA, Laura Granger of Maple Grove, MN; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and sister-in law Deb Granger of LaGrange, IL. William is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Caroline (Christensen) Granger, brothers Robert and James Granger, and sister-in-law Etta Granger. William Charles Granger was born June 21, 1933 in Morris, IL. He was raised and educated in Morris, graduating from Morris High School. On September 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Virginia Barrows at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeKalb, IL. The couple established their home in DeKalb and William graduated from Northern Illinois State Teachers College. The couple then moved to St. Paul, MN where he attended and graduated from Luther Theological Seminary. From 1962 to 1980, William served as the pastor of the Lutheran Church's in Melvin, IL, Roberts, IL, Rockford, IA and Marble Rock, IA. In 1980 he became the pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Clarion. In 1996, William retired, and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He was the District President for the Western Iowa Lutheran Church Conference. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
