Virginia Ann "Ginger" Marquis, 82, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the Grandview Health Care Center, Dayton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at United Methodist Church, Gowrie with Rev. Susan Rohden officiating. Burial will be in Gowrie Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Ginger is survived by her grandchild Justyn (Amanda) Harris of Webster City, two great-grandchildren Jazmyne and Shayne. She is also survived by siblings Fred Fontaine of Omaha, Lynette (Bob) Marksbury of Spirit Lake, Linda (Ron) Junck of Sioux City, Gary (Mony) Kretlow of Ankeny, Dennis Kretlow of Rockwell City, Pamela (Ruperto) Castaneda of Schaller, Roxanne Carr of Webster City, Rick Kretlow of Sioux City, and Mike (Kathy) Kellen of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her father Monty Fontaine, mother Dorothy Tilger, stepfathers Lawrence Kretlow and John Tilger, son Shayne Marquis, husband Jack Marquis, sisters Gloria Johnson and Marie Elaine Fontaine.

Virginia Ann Fontaine was born September 19, 1942, in Fort Dodge. She was raised in Rockwell City and attended Rockwell City High School. On July 12, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jack Marquis at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Rockwell City. The couple first made their home in Fort Dodge and then lived in Ames for 20 years. Ginger worked for Safeway, Inc in Ames for 15 years. The couple then moved to Gowrie for 20 years until moving to Callender. Ginger worked for Casey's in Gowrie and then Mohr's Café, Doc's Café, and retired from Gary's Café. She is a member of United Methodist Church, Gowrie and United Methodist Women.
