Sarah Hobart

February 17, 1966 — February 14, 2025

Sarah Jean Hobart of Westmont, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at her home on February 14, 2025, just days before her 59th birthday.

A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Laufersweiler Palmer-Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. A visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the funeral home.

Sarah was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who filled the lives of those around her with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love. She is survived by her beloved children, Maxwell Higgins (Symone Luckett) of Chicago and Samantha (Markus) Smith of Lancaster, CA. She was the proud and adoring grandmother "GiGi" of Kora, Selena, and Cataleya, who were the lights of her life. Sarah's love extended deeply to her siblings, Marie Feldhans, Vikki (Dennis) Paulsen, Dave (Angie) Hobart, Jim Hobart, Nancy Hobart, Rick Hobart, Jennifer (Sean) Johnson, and Bill (Katrina) Hobart, as well as her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Frances (Puchner) Hobart, brother Daniel Hobart, and brother-in-law Bryan Feldhans.

Born on February 17, 1966, in Lake City, Sarah grew up in Rockwell City, where she graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1984. She later built a successful career as a property appraiser, working throughout the Chicago area.

Sarah's enthusiasm for life was contagious. She was endlessly creative, always coming up with fun and crafty ideas that brought people together. A passionate sports fan, she cheered fiercely for her beloved White Sox and Vikings, never missing a chance to cheer on her teams.

Sarah had a unique way of making people feel treasured. She shared a special and cherished bond with her great-nieces and great-nephews, teaching them all the theme song to Mamma Mia!-which became her signature greeting and farewell, a melody that will forever bring smiles to those who sung with her. Above all, she was a woman of immense love. Her heart belonged to her family, and nothing brought her more joy than being a mother and grandmother. Her grandkids were her world, and she made every moment with them magical.

Sarah's love, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Sarah's family takes comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to shine through the love she gave so freely.
