Roxie Jacobson

February 14, 1942 — December 2, 2023

Roxie G. Jacobson, 81, of Fort Dodge, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.


Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


Roxie is survived by her sons, Eddie (Laura) Jacobson, Mike (Shelly) Jacobson, grandchildren, Shelby Jacobson, Jared Jacobson, Tanner Helmers, and Lucas Jacobson, great grandchild, Emersyn Jacobson, brother, Tom Petcoff of Ankeny, sister-in-law, Nancy Jo Henning of West Des Moines, niece, Jaci (Rick) Rittgers of Gowrie, and nephew, Troy (Melanie) Henning of Oswego, IL.


Roxie is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ed, parents, sister-in-law, Sharon Smith, brothers-in-law, Jack Jacobson and Earl Jacobson and in-laws, Clarence and Mary Jacobson.


Roxie Gene Jacobson was born on February 14, 1942, in Fort Dodge to parents, Gene and Mary Alice (O'Connell) Petcoff. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1960. On January 8, 1964, Roxie was united in marriage to Ed Jacobson in Groton, Connecticut while Ed was serving in the US Navy. The couple lived in Charleston, South Carolina until Ed was discharged from the Navy and then they returned to Fort Dodge to raise their two sons. Ed and Roxie owned and operated Dodger Lanes in Fort Dodge for many years. In 2007 Roxie retired from Iowa Central Community College, where she worked in the bookstore. Roxie enjoyed traveling to many bowling tournaments over the years with her Bowling Girls. She was a member of the Fort Dodge Bowling Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed craft shows and decorating for every holiday. In later years, she enjoyed traveling with Ed and their high school friends. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.
