Ross R. Hartwig, 95, of Rockwell City passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Rockwell City. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
Ross is survived by his sons, Rex (Shelly) Hartwig and Craig Hartwig both of Rockwell City; grandchildren, Tami (Jason) Bingham of Ackworth, Tracy Furrow of Granger, and Tonya (Clayton) Reynolds of Yetter; 7 great-grandchildren, Jax, Blake, and Gia Bingham, Cole and Ava Reynolds, and Finnley and Fallon Furrow.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Hartwig; daughter, Kay Marie Hartwig; and parents, Fred and Ella (Vosberg) Hartwig, and his sister Edna Hinners.
Ross Roger Hartwig was born on the farm on April 24, 1929. He was baptized May 12, 1929 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed February 22, 1942. Ross went to Sherman Country School until 1943 and graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1947. He served his country with the 133rd Air Guard from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Dolores Hildebrand on June 14, 1952 and the couple made their home in Rockwell City. Farming was Ross's entire life. If he wasn't planting or harvesting, he was fixing machinery or working with livestock. He dearly loved his granddaughters and took pride in watching all of their events. He will be deeply missed.
Memorials may be left to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the discretion of the family.
