Roger K. Bell, 76, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in St. Olaf Cemetery. A visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 Friday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Roger is survived by his cousins Kathy (Don) Sundine of Fort Dodge, Laurie (Ed) Jordison of Des Moines, Jennifer Brunsvold of Des Moines, Amy (Jeff) Bair andJeremy Sundine all of Fort Dodge, goddaughters Lindsey (Keith) Monthei of Ankeny and their children Lilian, Kate, Lauren, Jake, and Kristen, Danielle (Adam) Bricker of Des Moines and their children Mia and Asher, Lacy Sundine and Tay Sundine both of Fort Dodge, and godsons Nick Bair (Hailey Busch) of Fort Dodge, Chris Brunsvold and Zach Brunsvold both of Des Moines, and Nathan Sundine of Fort Dodge, sisters-in-law Diane (Brad) Hemken and Pam Ash, nephews Daniel (Ali) Hemken and Michael Hemken great-nephew Parker Hemken and father-in-law Bob Johnson all of Mesa, AZ, best friend Jeanie Pride, many cousins, friends and his beloved 2007 Shelby Mustang "Black Magic". He was preceded in death by his parents Lynn and Ann (Christianson) Bell, wife Roberta Bell, grandparents Esther and Lewis Christianson, and goddaughter Chelsea Bair. Roger Keith Bell was born October 8, 1946 in Fort Dodge. He attended public schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in June of 1964. he then attended Fort Dodge Community College for 2 years and the University of Northern Iowa where he graduated with a secondary education teaching degree in 1968. He taught history at West Bend Junior High until he received his draft notice in November of 1968 and was inducted into the army. Roger attended basic training and AIT at Fort Polk, LA in 1969. He served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. After his return from Vietnam he served at Fort Bliss, TX where he was honorably discharged in February of 1972. On February 22, 1975 he was united in marriage to Roberta Johnson. Roger worked at Electrolux in Webster City and retired in 2008 after working there for 25 years. On May 12, 2018 Roger was honored to be chosen for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He loved bowling and belonged to a Friday night bowling league at Ridgewood Lanes. He also loved showing off his mustang at area car shows. Memorials may be left to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
