Rodney J. Kreykes, 90, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Accura Healthcare of Lake City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 3, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rockwell City. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. A visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Laufersweiler's Palmer-Swank Funeral Home.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Kreykes of Lake City; daughters, Kris (Ken) Miner of Overland Park, KS and Nancy (Bob) Webb of Eldora; grandchildren, Ben Prueter, Jon (Hayley) Prueter, Kiefer Miner, Chloe (John) Carlson, Liz Webb and great-grandson, Hudson Prueter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie (Kroese) Kreykes and sisters, Shirley Watters and Darlene Callenius.
Rodney John Kreykes was born October 9, 1935 in Sheldon, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1953. Rod served in the United States Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958. On May 19, 1962 he was united in marriage to Jo Ann Blank at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple lived in LeMars and Sheldon until establishing their home in Rockwell City.
Rod worked as a Regional Manager for Iowa Public Service until retiring in 1992. He then worked for North American State Leasing from 1992 to 1997. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He served on the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Lions Club. He was the president of the Rotary Club and the Twin Lakes Country Club. He also was a member of the SCMH Board of Directors committee that established the Rockwell City clinic. In his spare time, Rod enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating and being outdoors. He loved woodworking and made numerous furniture pieces for others as well as being a handyman around the town for anyone who needed his help.
