Manson Robert A. Sexton 102, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society of Manson. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Denise Berns officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the AmVets Post #41 of Rockwell City following the Church service. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Church until service time. Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Manson at a later date. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Bob is survived by his wife, Teresa and blended family; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 6 stepchildren, Mary (Randy) Bennett of Fort Dodge, Diane Fitzgerald, Larry (Anne) Fitzgerald of Kansas, Liz Markert, Don (Melody) Fitzgerald, and Dennis Fitzgerald, all of Manson; 28 step-grandchildren; 39 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law Jon Kleemeier of Rockwell City; sister-in-law Mary Sexton of Rockwell City; stepdaughter-in-law Peg Fitzgerald of Manson; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Kate (Holder) Sexton; his daughters, Nancy Laughlin, Karen Kleemeier, and Mary Kathryn Hawkins; stepchildren, Pat Whitlatch, Dic Fitzgerald, Bill Fitzgerald, Dave Fitzgerald, and Dale Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Becky Hawkins, Jeremy Kleemeier, and Emily Markert; great-grandson Henry Wheeler; sister Doris Sexton; and brothers, Dale, Verle, and Franklin Sexton. Robert Amos Sexton was born April 21, 1920 at Jolley, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1938. Bob grew up with a sister Doris, and three brothers, Dale, Verle, and Franklin, all of whom are deceased now. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy in Guam from 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to the Rockwell City area to farm. On May 28, 1974, he was united in marriage to Teresa Collins Fitzgerald and the couple made their home in Manson. In 1985, Bob retired from the ASCS office. He enjoyed family time, farming, fishing, golfing and traveling.
