Rick L. Junkman, 54, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on October 25, 2022 following a short battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home with a prayer service and time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Rick was born on August 20, 1968 to Becky (Vote) and Larry Junkman. He attended and graduated from Rockwell City Schools. He jumped into the workforce at an early age, beginning his lawn mowing business at age 14. He went on to work for Webster County for over 30 years, the last 23 for the Webster County Secondary Road Department. In 1990 he met Margaret Mueller at the Rock and Roll Reunion in Fort Dodge. They married on July 19, 1991 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and were the proud parents to their two children, Haley and Cain. Left to treasure Rick's memory are his wife, Margaret, daughter Haley of Ankeny, son Cain of Aurelia, his parents Becky and Larry Junkman of Rockwell City, and his best friend (brother) Dan Peters of Clare along with his sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and all his buddies who worked for the Road Department. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jean and Daniel (Swede) Vote and Sena and Edward Junkman, his mother- and father-in-law, Rosemary and Leo Mueller, his brother-in-law, Craig Danes, and his mentor and friend, Ray Gales. The term which best describes Rick is "hard worker". He instilled this strong work ethic in his children and shared it with those around him. He enjoyed drives with his favorite dog (Jessie), working in his garage, scratch tickets, Figure 8 races, and going for Sunday drives with "Marge". He will always be remembered for his willingness to help people, whether it was fixing something broken, moving furniture, or cleaning up their yards. He will be missed by many! Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Rick's family would be so pleased if you would consider donating platelets or other blood products in his honor so that other families have them in their time of need.
