Richard S. Loehr, 92, of Moorland, passed away Friday October 17, 2025, at the Simpson Health Center, Friendship Haven.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday October 24, 2025, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fulton Township Cemetery near Moorland with military rites provided by the US Army and VFW Post 1856. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Jeff (Lorie) Loehr, of Moorland, Carol (David) Richmond, of Indianola, Marcella Loehr of Rosemount, MN; grandchildren, Dante (Annie) Richmond, Danielle Richmond, Ashley (Tanner) Bachman, Leslie (Andrew) Loehr-Kicklighter; great-grandchildren, Theo and Maddie Bachman, and Roslynn Richmond.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Helen (Fiderlick) Loehr, brother, Roland, sister, Shirley Habermehl, and grandchild, Melissa Loehr.
Richard Stanley Loehr was born June 15, 1933, on the family farm near Moorland. He was raised and educated in the Moorland schools, graduating from Moorland High School. He attended Iowa State University before serving with the US Army; stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Richard returned to the family farm. On March 31, 1957, Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Slama and the couple continued to farm on the family farm. He was the Fulton Township Trustee for many years, volunteered on the Moorland Fire Board, and served on the Webster-Calhoun County Telephone Association board of directors. After his retirement, Richard enjoyed welding, oil painting, and working with stain glass.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
