Richard Heun

Richard "Dick" Heun, 83, of Duncombe passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, January 30, 2026 at Holy Trinity Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duncombe. A visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home with a rosary beginning at 3:45 PM.

Richard is survived by his wife, Veronica (Ronnie) Heun of Duncombe, children, Jeff (Dana) Heun of Duncombe, Jennifer Lighthipe of Council Bluffs, Dr. James (Tammy) Heun of Verona, WI, Rev. John (Amanda) Heun of Rogersville, MO, and Julie (Dan) Piton of Fort Dodge, 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchild; siblings, Edward Heun of Fort Dodge, Roger Heun of Fort Dodge, Pat Gregersen of Humboldt, Robert Heun of Otho, Bonnie Stok of Badger, and Dr. Russell Heun of Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille (Thoma) Heun.

Dick was born August 17, 1942 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1960. On August 22, 1970, Richard was united in marriage to Veronica "Ronnie" Morrissey in Carroll. The couple established their home and farmed near Duncombe. Dick farmed and had his own trucking business. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church.

Dick loved his family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many conversations with his friends and always made time for a "break" to check in. Through his quiet strength, deep integrity, and steady presence, he shaped his family in ways that will last for generations.

To those who knew him, Dick was dependable, hard-working, humble and kind. He found joy in the simple things: a good farm sale, stopping to talk to the animals, a well-kept field, conversations around the kitchen table, and time spent with family and friends. He had a deep respect for the land and for those who worked it, and he was always willing to help a neighbor in need.
