Richard Wagner was born in Havelock in 1930. He grew up in Pocahontas where he attended high school. After graduation, he began his sales career working for Gus Glaser Meats and Nelson (Marigold) Ice Cream. After the family moved to Phoenix, he continued in sales working for American Chicle, a division of Warner Lambert. He retired in 1991. Geraldine (McBride) Wagner was born in Fort Dodge in 1931. She attended both grade and high school at Corpus Christi. She then attended Tobin Business Secretary College and began work for places such as Kalo Brick and Tile. After moving to Phoenix, she worked for Edwards Distributing. Richard and Geraldine met at a dance in Fort Dodge and were married at Corpus Christi Church in 1952. Their first 3 children were born in Fort Dodge. In 1962, the family moved to Phoenix. They had another 2 children there. In 1972, they moved to Anaheim and six years later down to San Diego where they spent the remainder of their lives. After retiring, they purchased a motorhome and traveled the country, frequently spending summers back in Iowa. Mom died in San Diego on August 6, 2021. Dad died in San Diego four months later, on December 6, 2021. They are preceded in death by their parents and one son, Douglas. They are survived by their daughter Diane, and sons Daniel, Dean and Dale, 9 grand-children and 6 great-grandchildren. There will be a remembrance for the couple at Laufersweiler Funeral Home followed by burial of their cremains at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2022 which would have been their 70th anniversary.
