Mervin Leroy Flowers, 81, longtime resident of Fort Dodge, went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 20th, 2024, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, with all of his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26th at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the church. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.
Survivors include his wife Joann of Fort Dodge, daughter and son-in-law Annette and Tom Lentsch, son Leroy Flowers, grandchildren Jessica (Arturo) Montoya, April (Eric) Sanborn, Tommy (Brittany) Lentsch, Travis (Danielle) Lentsch, Angela (Logan) Cleveland, Dan (Tara) Flowers, Jon (Shandra) Flowers, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded by his grandmother Ada Flowers, parents William and Gladys (Williams) Flowers, grandchildren Angel Lentsch, Victor Lentsch, Destanny Smith Downs, Keigan Lentsch, and his sister Leona Haglund.
Mervin Leroy Flowers was born on October 7, 1942, in Fort Dodge, and went to school in Fort Dodge. He married the love of his life Joann Gerken on November 19, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were married for nearly 63 years. Mervin worked at Umthun Trucking for many years. After retirement the couple spent 18 years in Texas in the Valley. He enjoyed fishing and golf ball hunting with his grandchildren. Mervin loved to be outside and had a garden every year. He also loved camping trips with the family over the years.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
