Maureen Ann Coffey, 90, passed away April 25,2026. In her final hours, she listened to Irish music, at peace and ready to be welcomed into our Lord's hands.
Maureen is survived by her children Catherine Ann Knight of McMinneville, Oregon, Mary (Dan) Buol of West Liberty, Iowa, Patrick (Tammy) Coffey of Appleton, Wisconsin, grandchildren Ashley (Jeremi) Throne, Aylene (Alex) Strebeck, Catherine (Kye) Grenko, Bridget Buol, Jack Buol, Joseph Coffey, William Coffey and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Loretta (Hogan) Sullivan, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Anne (Murphy) Sullivan, sister and brother-in-law Margaret "Peggy" and Austin Mallinger, Thomas Coffey and grandson Nicholas Buol.
Maureen Sullivan was born on September 28,1935 in Ft. Dodge Iowa. She was raised on the family farm in Ft. Dodge attended Corpus Christi Catholic Schools. Following in her mother's footsteps she attended Clark College in Dubuque, Iowa. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Library Sciences.
Maureen brought joy to everyone who knew her. After graduating from Clark, she made her home in Davenport, where she worked as a librarian at St. Ambrose College. Those years were filled with cherished friendships and many happy memories. She had a love of travel, during her married life she lived in many different places, though St. Paul, Minnesota was always "home" to her. Maureen had a lifelong passion for learning and reading. While living in Iowa, she was actively involved at the Iowa City Senior Center, where she enjoyed taking a variety of historical and cultural courses. She also volunteered with the Democratic Party, forming lasting friendships along the way. Maureen loved cooking and hosting gatherings for family and friends, creating a warm and welcoming home for all. In all things, Maureen showed a gentle grace, and her deep love for others was felt by everyone around her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Church of the Assumption in St. Paul, MN. A visitation will begin one hour prior to mass at the church. The final rite. of committal will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Corpus Christi Cemetery in Fort Dodge, IA.
