Matt A. Trotter, 69, of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2023, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 10:00 AM, at Holy Trinity Church with visitation from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery with full Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Marine Honor Guard. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Matt is survived by his sisters, Mary Frances Cullan of Omaha, NE, Therese (David) Barenz of Solon, IA, brother, Mike (Mari) Trotter of Fort Dodge, IA, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of close friends. Matt is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Frances (Adams) Trotter, and brothers Thomas and Patrick Trotter, and brother-in-law Dan Cullan. Matt Anthony Trotter was born on October 28, 1953, in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Saint Edmond High School in 1972. Following his education Matt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving during Vietnam where the family also lost their brother Patrick Trotter. In 2018, Matt was on the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., and was able to retrieve an etching of his brother Pat's name from the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. Matt enjoyed drawing and especially loved to ride his motorcycle. He was a kindhearted person and will be missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
