Mary was born on August 26, 1934, in Fort Dodge, where she was raised and educated. A graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High, Mary went on to attend AIB college in Des Moines.
On August 10, 1957, Mary married Devon "Pete" Peterson, at Sacred Heart Church. They made their home in Fort Dodge and were blessed with three beautiful daughters: Polly, Susie and Ann. After Pete's untimely passing in 1973, Mary's strength and devotion shone through as she worked hard to provide a warm and loving home for her girls. She was employed for many years at the Hormel Union Hall and at the offices of Drs. Kelly, Cole & Birkett. Mary was a member of the Lioness Club, the Catholic Daughters and of Corpus Christi Church.
Mary had a true passion for cooking and baking, always happiest when sharing her kitchen creations with those she loved. Her apple pie, among many other dishes, became family favorites and a symbol of her warmth and generosity.
Above all, Mary was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her presence brought joy, comfort, and laughter to all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
