Mary Frances DeLanoit

Mary F. DeLanoit, age 90, of Johnston, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at Mill Pond Retirement Community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Mary was born February 12, 1936, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Des Moines and lived her life centered on family, service, and compassion for others.

Mary was a loving homemaker and devoted caregiver to her grandchildren, always putting the needs of others before her own. During her working years she served as an operator at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, an Executive Assistant at Modular Mining in Tucson, Arizona, and later as a Patient Care Advocate in Des Moines.

Mary had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed working with her hands. She loved creating holiday crafts, tackling household projects, traveling, and embracing new chapters of life. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by her children: Patrick (Sheila) Parks, Michael DeLanoit, Thomas (Amy) DeLanoit, Christopher (Nancy) DeLanoit, and Stephanie (Dustin) Kilbride; stepchildren: Nancy (Don) Livesy, Paulette DeLanoit, Debra Hubbling, Robert (Theresa) DeLanoit, and Paul G. DeLanoit; and her sisters Joan Sullivan, Ann Langhoz, and Patty Foster.

Mary was preceded in death by, Francis and Lucille Sullivan, parents; Paul L. DeLanoit husband; Cathy Sullivan, sister; and Betsy McMahan and Vicki Price, stepdaughters.

Mary was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.

Visitation will be held at Laufersweiler Funeral Home in Fort Dodge on March 9 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated March 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, with burial to follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery.

Mary will be remembered for her deep faith, strength, creativity, and unwavering love for her family. May perpetual light shine upon her, and may she rest in peace.
