Ames - Marlene M. Black, 88, formerly of Rinard, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by family, at Maggie's Place at Northridge Village, Ames.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville, with Father Brian Feller officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lohrville. There will be a visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. Laufersweiler, Palmer & Sons is in charge of arrangements.
Marlene is survived by her husband Ron; daughter, Brenda (Patrick) Junginger, of Iowa City; sons, Brent (Sharon) Black of Nevada, and Kevin (Kelly) Black of Gowrie; grandchildren, Mike (Kristin) Junginger, Kari (John) Seidl, John Junginger, Bryce (Jillian) Black, Colynn (Allie) Black, Bart Black, Lindsey (Eric) Hjelle, Rebecca (Adam) Greiner, and Stephanie (Tommy) Halligan; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Colleen) Tasler of Ames, and sister-in-law, Merilyn Tasler of Gowrie.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Atha (Kinsman) Tasler, son, Daniel Black, and brothers, Donald, Norman, Duane, and Roger.
Marlene M. Tasler was born on February 19, 1937, in Adaza and graduated from Farnhamville High School. She attended the College of Business in Omaha, playing basketball. She married Ron Black on June 23, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville. They lived at Fort Sill in Oklahoma for two years before moving to the Rinard area to farm. After many years, the couple retired to Ames in 2007. She was a Life Master Bridge player, a Catholic Daughters of America member for 65 years, and an organist and active funeral committee member at St. Joseph Catholic Church for 40 years. Marlene enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
