Lynda K. Rupp

Lynda "Lyn" K. Rupp, 87, Fort Dodge, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at her home following a short but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31st at 2:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 - 2:00 PM.

Lyn was born in Fort Dodge April 6, 1939, to Harold E. and Nadine (Echelberger) Brown. Lyn graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1957 and worked as a secretary at New Idea Farm Equipment, George A. Hormel, Trinity Regional Hospital, and Fort Dodge Laboratories. She was united in marriage to Jean Maschino in 1957 and later divorced. She married Joe Rupp in 1972 and they made their home in Fort Dodge until 1994 when they retired to Hot Springs Village, AR. They enjoyed 22 years in Arkansas, returning to Iowa in 2016 to be closer to family.

Lyn was an excellent cook who loved to entertain and host friends and family. In retirement, she and Joe enjoyed traveling for many years. Lyn also enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and loved ones; golfing, securing a hole-in-one at a favorite course in Arkansas; hunting morel mushrooms; cheering on the Hawkeyes; gardening; playing cards; reading a good book; and enjoying a glass of wine. She was a quick wit and had a terrific sense of humor.

Lyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joe; son Ed (Carolyn) Maschino, Badger; stepchildren Tim (Susie) Rupp, Rolla, MO., Christene Rupp, Coralville; Cindy (David) Brown, Iowa City; sister-in-law Kay Brown, Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Hannah, Emma; Megan, Joshua, Kyle; Joe, Brandi, Krissy; Matt, Ben; Andrew, Ashley; several great grandchildren; lifelong friend Diane Borcherding, Belmond; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by infant son, John Maschino; stepdaughter, Diane Douglas; parents Harold E. and Nadine; and brothers Harold (Skip), Dennis, John, and Bill Brown.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
