Loren Niemand

Loren J. Niemand, 73, of Fort Dodge, passed away after a courageous 4-month battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

A celebration of Loren's life will be held on Sunday, March 15th at Rides Banquet Center from 11:00 to 1:00 PM with a prayer service at 1:00 PM with luncheon to follow all at Rides. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. The family requests no flowers.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Michelle of Fort Dodge, sons Michael Niemand of Fort Dodge and Tyler Niemand of Fort Dodge, granddaughter Kayla Niemand and great granddaughter Emerson of Gilmore City, and grandson Kayden Niemand of Webster City, siblings Linda, Larry, Lorraine, Lorie, LuAnn, Lennis, Lynette, Lavonne, Lavern, and Leslie.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dora (Wendland) Niemand, brother Lowell and his sister Lisa.

Loren James Niemand was born on February 26, 1953 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1971. On June 27, 1977 he was united in marriage to Michelle Kopish, and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Loren worked as a commercial roofer his entire life and was currently employed with Bailey Roofing Contractors out of Urbandale. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting for mushrooms, trips to the casino and was a die-hard Raiders fan. He loved time spent with his family and friends.
