Linda Layman

Linda Layman, 83, of Rockwell City passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2025 at Sunrise Health Center, Sioux City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, August 17, 2026 at Spirit of Hope Church, Rockwell City. A visitation and lunch will be served at the church immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Rosehill Cemetery.

Linda is survived by her children, Jay (Nicole) Layman and Angie (Eric) Spake; 8 grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry (Diane) Meusburger and Marvin (Jane) Meusburger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Layman and parents, Thomas and Violet (Nelson) Meusburger.

Linda Lee Meusburger was born May 22, 1943. She graduated from Lytton High School and then Buena Vista University. She was united in marriage to her best friend and soulmate, Clayton Layman on June 6, 1965 at Skaraborg Lutheran Church in Piper. The couple made their home on an acreage north of Rockwell City. Linda taught 4th grade in Manson and then stayed home to raise her children. Linda started Happy Face Preschool in Rockwell City and then taught Kindergarten. She was an avid reader and even wrote and illustrated a children's book "The Christmas Pony", a story about how her husband got a pony. She enjoyed storytelling and was a member of the Storytellers of the Prairie. She loved being a wife and mother. She was an active grandmother, attending all of her grandchildren's activities. Linda liked spending time in Okoboji boating and sitting around the campfire.

Memorials may be left to family discretion.
