Laurie Nelson

Laurie L Nelson, 60, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday September 23, 2025, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday September 29, 2025, at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Sunday September 28, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Laurie Lynn Gochee was born on August 15, 1965, to David Gochee and Linda Brehm. She graduated from Senior High in 1983. She had Kristin on May 3, 1982, and married Brian Florea. The couple later separated, and she later married Chris Nelson on February 15, 2007. The couple has been together for 35 years; to this union, Riley was born on December 26, 2003. Laurie worked at Diamond Data and J Devlin. She is a long-time member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending time there. Laurie loved watching sports, especially football weekends, golfing, and playing darts. She was a big fan of the Cubs, Steelers, and Hawkeyes.

Laurie is survived by her husband Chris; daughters Kristin Florea and Riley Nelson; grandsons that were like children Tyler Martinson, Tate Martinson, Joshua Mrozek, Edker Foy; mother, Linda (Jim) Mericle, sister Cindy (Breck) Imhoff, brother Jeff Gochee, brother-in-law Eric (Michelle) Nelson, sister-in-law Julie Stringer and many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.

Laurie is preceded in death by her dad David Gochee; grandparents George and Ruth Brehm and Millie and Mervin Gochee.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Laurie was always one to put others first and opened her home to all in need.
