Jill Zabel

Jill Zabel, 81, of Duncombe passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Colfax Cemetery, Vincent. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jill is survived by her husband, Jerald Zabel of Duncombe; 3 children; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Zabel; grandson, Cody Zabel; sister, Rose Stanley of IN and cousin Darrel Barber of IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther (Barber) Hill; and sister, Carole Richardson.

Jill Ann Hill was born January 9, 1944 in Washington, IN. As a young adult, she moved to Iowa. On July 15, 1993 she was united in marriage to Jerald Zabel. The couple made their home on a farm near Duncombe. Jill enjoyed anything to do with horses. She raised and trained horses. She would show them and run barrels with them. She just loved animals in general. She also helped her husband out on the farm. He did the farming and she ran the business. She drove a 7220 Magnum and always knew how to pull straight up to the auger. She hauled the grain in the fall and kept the guys at the elevator on their toes. The couple sponsored a family from China and remain good friends to this day. They traveled to New York to see the Statue of Liberty and even to the Great Wall of China. Jill will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
