James D. Judas Sr., 88, of Rockwell City passed away Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society, Manson.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in MANSON. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Laufersweiler's Palmer-Swank Funeral Home in Rockwell City.
James is survived by his sons, James Judas Jr. (Carrie) of Osage Beach, MO and Chris Judas (Deb) of Rockwell City; son-in-law, Kevin Rasch; grandchildren, Heather (David) DeCoster, Andrea (Patrick) Garbutt, Marc Rasch, Lauren (Ryan) Brandt, James Judas III "Trey", Trent (Trina) Judas, Shannon (Justin) Grossnickle, and Brandon (Marietta) Judas; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; parents, Wilbert Judas and Norma Renner; sister, Caroline Sprague, step-daughter, Shelley Rasch and step-son, Michael Palmer.
James Dean Judas Sr. was born December 30, 1936 in Waterloo. He was raised and educated in Waterloo. He was united in marriage to Judith Schneider on March 18, 1959 in Brookings, SD. The couple lived in several communities in Iowa including Denver, Burlington, and Barnum before establishing their home in Rockwell City in 1973. James served in active duty with the United States Air Force for 4 years and with the Air National Guard for 30 years, where he retired as Command Chief Master Sergeant. James also worked as a switchman for the railroad. He spent 30 years, as a Conservation Officer for the State of Iowa. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rockwell City and the local Chapter of Masons and AMVETS. James liked to hunt, fish, read, play cards, going to casinos and traveling. He enjoyed spending summers at Prairie du Chein, WI.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
