Jack Allen Yates, 76, of Badger, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 15th at Badger Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, IA, with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Leslye, sons Brandon, Derek and Jordan, three grandchildren Tatumn, Jayden and Aliyah, brother Kerry (Mary) Balm, brother-in-law Kent (Rita) Carlson, sister-in-law Jeri Carlson and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia (Sis) Yates, mother-in-law Barbara Carlson, father-in-law Don Carlson, many aunts, uncles, and his cousin Bill Neavin.

Jack Allen Yates was born on November 7, 1948 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School with the class of 1966. In 1968 he enlisted in the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War as a helicopter mechanic. He was married to Leslye Carlson in November 1973. He played in many bands and was inducted into the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame with "Dale and the Devonaires," "The Scavengers" and "Buckeye."

Jack worked at the Fort Dodge Laboratories from 1986 until he retired in 2004. Following his retirement, he went to work at Napa Auto Parts as a delivery driver. In 2013 Jack was one of the founding members of the band "Midwest Rock & Soul Revue." In 2015, Larry Lind, Eddie Simpson and Jack formed "The Bare Bones Trio" to entertain at nursing homes and care centers.

Jack loved to spend time with his family, especially his sons whether it was motocross, fishing, music or anything that they might be involved in. He enjoyed spending time in Okoboji, Branson, and Clear Lake. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
