Twin Lakes Jack L. Sandvig 92, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society at Manson. Funeral Services for Betty and Jack Sandvig will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Father Jim Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. There will be a Military Flag Presentation by AmVets Post #41 of Rockwell City. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Church until service time. Burial of caskets will be at St. Margarets Cemetery in Rolfe. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Jack is survived by his daughters, Sara (David) Staver of Twin Lakes, and Cindy (David) Foxhoven of Doniphan, NE; grandchildren, Mike (Jen) Staver of Centennial, CO, and Phil Staver of Des Moines; step-grandchildren, Matt (Crystal) Foxhoven of Antioch, CA, and Ann (Bart) Eskeldson of Eskridge, KS; great-grandchildren, Carson Staver and Kyle Staver; step-great-grandchildren, Auston Foxhoven and Braxton Foxhoven; sisters, Mary Jane Firkins of Newton, and Pat (Garlin) Carmichael of Storm Lake; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth "Betty"; parents, Elmer and Sadie (Lilly) Sandvig; brothers, Donald, William, Arnold, and James Sandvig; and sisters, Maurine Spiker, and Donna Jean Young. Jack Lee Sandvig was born June 18, 1930 at Rolfe, Iowa. He graduated from Rolfe High School, with the Class of 1948. Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953 attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. On May 30, 1952 he was united in marriage to Betty Sinek at St. Margarets Catholic Church in Rolfe. The couple made their home in Iowa City where Jack graduated from University of Iowa in 1958. Following his education, they moved to Cherokee where Jack worked as Director of Recreation for the City of Cherokee for 9 years. Jack then served as Activities Director for the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for 25 years until his retirement. In 1992, the couple made their home in Iowa City until moving to their home on North Twin Lakes in 2007. Jack was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Bishop Cosgrove Assembly #267, Kiwanis, VFW, Rockwell City Rotary Club, and the University of Iowa Foundation.
