Jack Buffington

Jack Buffington, 83, of Fort Dodge, passed away Sunday July 5, 2026, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Jack is survived by his wife, Gloria, son, Scott (Jennifer) Buffington, daughter, Chris Buffington, grandchildren, Jacob (Jessica) Buffington, Zachary (Kennedy) Buffington, great grandchild, Ava Buffington, sister-in-law, Barbara O'Donnell, cousins, Tamera (Tim) Johnson, David (Brooke) Buffington, Lyla Buffington, and friend of the family, Trisha Buffington.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eleanor (Simpson) Buffington, brother, Dan Buffington, and sister-in-law Twilla Buffington.

Jack Duane Buffington was born on September 28, 1942, in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated here graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1962. In 1964, he was united in marriage to Gloria Joiner, and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Jack and Gloria made a career of detailing cars; he would do the outside while she did the inside. He was a loving and caring father and a big animal lover. All the animals knew this and would always stop by the Buffington's for food and water. Jack enjoyed fixing the neighborhood kids bikes and the couple enjoyed listening to the scanner at night.
