Helen Adams, 89, of Rogers, MN passed away on June 28, 2025, at North Memorial Health Hospital in Maple Grove surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at St Francis Catholic Church in Rockwell City with Rev. Ross Caniglia officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 PM Tuesday in St Patrick Cemetery near Churdan. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, with a Rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Laufersweiler's Palmer-Swank Funeral Home in Rockwell City.
Helen Lavonne Adams was born on January 12, 1936 to Martin and Elizabeth (Monahan) Hyland. She graduated from Churdan High School in 1953. She then attended St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll, Iowa graduating as an RN in 1956. Upon graduation, she worked at the Greene County Hospital in Jefferson, Iowa until her marriage. On October 20, 1956 Helen was united in marriage to Thomas Adams, her high school sweetheart. Most of their married life they made their home in Rockwell City. Her first 20 years of nursing were mainly spent in a hospital setting at Mercy and Trinity Regional Hospitals in Fort Dodge. Helen was then the first school nurse in Rockwell City and was employed there for 21 years, retiring in 1997. After retiring, she enjoyed her winters in Bullhead City, Arizona. In 2015, she moved to Minnesota to be closer to her family. Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school and sport activities. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and games with family and friends.
Helen is survived by her children Timothy Adams of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Todd (Dee) Adams of Circle Pines, Minnesota, Sherri Adams of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Kent (Suzanne) Adams of Rochester, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Ashley (Tony) Butler, Angela (Nihar) Mohanty, Andrew Adams, Anthony (Kate) Adams, Joshua Adams, and Zach Adams; 4 great-grandchildren, Hailee, Brock, Hattie, and Huxley; 1 brother, Bill (Diane) Hyland; 1 sister, Joanne Fritz.
Helen was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Elizabeth (Monahan) Hyland, her husband Thomas Adams; son Garry Adams, sisters, Josephine Hyland and Mary Schwenk; brothers, Virgil, Richard, and Phillip Hyland.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
