Gregg Kreamer

Gregg E. Kreamer, 78, of Fort Dodge departed the Earth Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial in Corpus Christi Cemetery will follow a luncheon being served immediately after the service. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2026 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Gregg Edward Kreamer was born on February 27, 1948 to Frank and Mary Joan Kreamer in Iowa City, Iowa. His middle name was given to him in honor of his grandfather, Edward Stubblefield. The family moved to Northwood, Iowa in 1950 where his father Frank served as the Worth County attorney. Gregg attended grade school at Northwood Kensett Community Schools. The family then moved to West Des Moines where Gregg attended junior high school at Stillwell Junior High School and then high school at West Des Moines Valley. Gregg played football and was a three-time Letterman in wrestling. He graduated Valley High School in 1966. He then moved to Tustin, California where he lived for a number of months. He returned to Iowa and attended Lincoln Tech Automotive School Where he learned a great deal about cars. He joined the Iowa National Guard in 1968 and was honorably discharged in April of 1973. Gregg then attended Simpson College for a year before transferring to Iowa State University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in 1971. He then enrolled in Drake University and graduated with his Master's Degree in public administration in 1978 all while working full time!

Gregg started working full time for the Iowa Employment Security Commission, later Iowa Workforce Development in 1971. He was a management analyst and program specialist. In 1989, he became a field office manager in Webster City. He left Workforce Development in 1995 for a job as a personnel manager for Iowa Hydraulics in Pocahontas where he was employed for several years. A job as the Benefits Administrator at Decker Truck Line brought him back to Fort Dodge in 1997. In 2005, he worked with a federal grant program as a Disability Navigator and retired in July of 2010. Gregg was married to Carla Vioglavich in 1968 and the couple later divorced. He married Janet Peterson in 1979 and they divorced. Gregg was united inmarriage to Leona Long Duregger in 1989. They made their home in Fort Dodge and spent many winter months in Arizona.

Gregg loved the game of golf and played on many courses scoring four hole-in-one shoots during his career. He was a past member at the Fort Dodge Country Club and a current member at Lakeside Golf Course. Gregg loved to drive beginning in his early teenage years. He and wife Leona traveled to numerous locations before and after retirement. He visited all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, The US Virgin Islands and Aruba in the Carribean. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Stubblefield) Kreamer Herrick, step-father, John Herrick, and step-brother, John "Nick" Herrick.

Gregg is survived by his wife, Leona Kreamer, siblings, Dirk Kreamer, Scott Kreamer, Ann Ferguson, Mary Elizabeth Pipitone, Joyce Rodenborn, Jodie Trail, Jim Herrick, Jenny Szatkowski, Jerry Herrick, Julie Burhow, Jeff Herrick, and Jackie Dummer.
