Florence Sandgren

Florence Ann Sandgren, 91, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home, Fort Dodge.

Florence Ann Block was born on September 25, 1934 in fort Dodge, Iowa, to George and Vera Block. She attended school in Fort Dodge and Otho, graduating from Otho High School. She received her Teaching Certificate from Iowa Central Community College, and taught 4th grade at the Callender School.

Florence was united in marriage to Arnold Sandgren on December 27, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. There were two daughters born to this union, Julie Ann and Jeanette Renae.

She was a stay at home mother, but later worked in Physical Therapy at Lutheran Hospital. Also, assisted teaching at Cooper Elementary in Fort Dodge. She ended her career by teaching preschool at Prince of Peace for nine years, having the joy of teaching all four of her grandchildren.

Florence was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Cottage Bible Study. She enjoyed many years in the Lutheran Women's Fellowship and the Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Thanupakorn and her husband Attachai. Her grandchildren include Jeremey (Alyssa) Trost, Jason (Angie) Trost, Adam Thanupakorn, Haley (Chelsea) Thanupakorn and Samantha Ladd. She dearly loved her great-grandchildren, Natalie and Lucas Trost; Brenley, Myles and Zayne Trost; Elara Thanupakorn; Nevaeh and Abrianna Frock; along with her sister Margaret Cronin and sister-in-law Carol Heahterington; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold and daughter, Julie; along with her much-loved parents and inlaws.

To Jeanette, her mother was always her best friend, and they enjoyed the last eleven years living together in the home they built. Memories of sitting on the back porch together will forever be cherished. She was a beautiful soul and lived life loving her Savior.
