Evelyn Jacobson

Evelyn M. Jacobson, 91, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Duncombe, passed away Saturday September 28, 2024 at Crestview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Webster City.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM (PLEASE NOTE THE DATE) Saturday November 16, 2024, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.

Evelyn May Sterns was born on January 20, 1933, on a farmstead in Adams County to Harold Emerson Sterns and Elma May (Botkin) Sterns. She moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa as a young child. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1951. After high school, Evelyn worked as a clerk typist for the FBI in Washington D.C. She then returned to Fort Dodge and worked at National Gypsum as a payroll clerk.

On March 7, 1953, Evelyn married Edward George Jacobson at Epworth Methodist Church, Fort Dodge. The couple made their home near Duncombe, where they operated a farm. Seasonally, Evelyn worked in the office for the Garst Seed Company and owned and operated a cleaning service.

Evelyn treasured time in the Lord's service teaching Sunday and Bible School, quilting, being a member of church boards and ELCA. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, traveling, gardening, reading, and researching family history.
