Evan Kretlow, 77, Rockwell City passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 10, 2024 at Lynch's Bar and Grill, Rockwell City from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Evan is survived by his wife, Barb Kretlow of Rockwell City; siblings, Allen (Janice) Kretlow of Rockwell City, Carol (Darrell) Ross of Lytton, Phyllis Kretlow of Rockwell City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy (Mary) Frank of Norfolk, VA, Dave Frank of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff (Jodi) Frank of Rockwell City, and Clay (Renae) Frank of Breda; 16 nieces and nephews; and 36 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Velma (Sittig) Kretlow; aunts, uncles; nephews, Kevin Ross, Nick Hildreth, and Jeremy Frank; sister and brother-in-law Sheila and Michael Englund.
Evan Dale Kretlow was born December 5, 1946 in Fort Dodge. He attended Emmanuel Lutheran School east of Rockwell City through the 8th grade and graduated Rockwell City High School in 1965. Evan began working at Tapps Gas Station before he was drafted into the United States Army on October 20, 1970. He served just shy of two years in Vietnam until his honorable discharge. He returned to Rockwell City and began working for the city as a mechanic and maintenance man. He retired at the age of 57 after working for 28 years. On September 6, 1980 he was united in marriage to Barb Frank in Lake View. In his spare time, Evan loved to hunt and fish. He worked on anything he could get his hands on and was always tinkering with something in the garage. He will be deeply missed.
