Dayton - Etta Runyon McDonald, 91, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2026, at Laufersweiler Palmer & Sons Funeral Home, Gowrie, with Pastor Craig Vote officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Grove Township Cemetery in Harcourt. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM Monday, until the time of service at the funeral home.
Etta is survived by her children, Diane (Tom) Johnson of Fort Dodge, Barbara (Kenny) Eygabroad of Navarre Beach, FL, June (Gary) Dunsford of Red Level, AL, Lorraine (Steve) Bjornson of Albia, IA, Tony (Julie) Runyon of Stratford, IA, Chymae McDonald of Chicago, IL, Brenda Buttz of Des Moines, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Etta is preceded in death by her parents, William and Stella (Wilder) Blades, granddaughter, Shelly Bjornson, great granddaughter, Elexa Diehl, foster son, Lee Clapper, all 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Etta Etha was born on July 5, 1934, to William and Stella Blades in Memphis, TX. She was raised and educated in Wellington, TX. Etta attended cosmetology school and then owned and operated a beauty salon in Lehigh and Dayton. She was also the co-owner of the Frontier Lounge in Dayton for several years. Etta moved to Alabama for a couple years before returning to Fort Dodge in 2022. She enjoyed working on diamond art in her retirement and she always made sure she had her make-up on with her blue eyeshadow.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
