Sep 6, 1953 — Jul 1, 2026

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Edward Casady Jr. (72) passed away at his home, and as he did with everything in life, did it his way, surrounded by family and his beloved companion, Rudy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Private burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home, Fort Dodge with a rosary at 3:00 p.m.

Ed is survived by his children Marisa Dahl (Nic) of Grimes and Ted Casady (Sarah) of Apple Valley, MN, as well as his four devoted grandchildren Brayton and Stella Dahl, and Reagan and Jordan Casady. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Casady of Chicago, IL.

Ed was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife Teresa, infant son Anthony, and beloved parents Edward Sr. and Stella Bisacchi Casady.

Edward P. Casady was born September 6, 1953, in Fort Dodge and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1971. After graduation, he attended Iowa Central Community College, continuing his education at Spartan Flight School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and earning his commercial flight instructor's license in 1974. In 1995, Eddie was promoted by his father to manager of Eddie's Cocktail Lounge. Later, what started as a hobby in his basement evolved into a 20,000-square-foot greenhouse known as Eddie's Greenhouse. In 2003, Eddie and his partners opened 3rd Base Bar and Grill. He believed it was important to find an occupation you enjoy and to do your best at it. He felt that if someone does the best they can, it will be a success no matter what.

He was a member of Holy Rosary and Holy Trinity Parishes for many years. Ed was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Italian Mutual Society, where he served as an officer for many years.

Eddie was born into a multi-generational immigrant family and grew up with an appreciation for putting family first. Ed met Teresa Wiewel in 1971, and they married in 1975. He was a devoted husband, father, and son, instilling in his family the importance of putting family first and visiting his parents daily with his family in tow. Carrying that forward to his grandchildren, he traveled across Iowa and Minnesota attending their various activities, including softball, dance, basketball, and plays.

After retiring from the greenhouse, Ed took on the kitchen as his next challenge, mastering many recipes handed down through family and found in cookbooks. From Weber specialties of smoked brisket and filet mignon to a multi-course breakfast on the Blackstone and, of course, the Casady family spaghetti sauce, Ed never missed an opportunity to host a dinner party for family and friends, even up to the weekend of his passing.

Ed's hobbies included his annual Canada fishing trip, spanning generations of family and friends; watching the Cyclones and the Yankees; and taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to share his Italian roots with his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ed in a way he would have appreciated; a donation to St. Edmond Schools, enjoying a dinner, sharing a drink, or spending an afternoon shopping at a local establishment with your loved ones. Raise a glass with a "Cheers" to the people you hold close, to your loved ones and ours, and to a life well lived.
