Duane Lee Peterson

Duane Lee Peterson, 83, of Harcourt, Iowa, died at Mary Greeley Hospital surrounded by loved ones on March 27, 2026.

Duane was born July 2, 1942, to Theodore and Georgia Peterson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at Faith Lutheran Church in Harcourt, Iowa. He attended Lanyon Consolidated Schools until his junior year and graduated from Harcourt Consolidated Schools in 1960.

Duane worked at the Harcourt Cooperative and managed the Churdan Elevator. They began farming in 1973 and have lived on the Harcourt farm for 50 years.

Duane is survived by his wife Doris (Ray) Peterson. They would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 8. He is also survived by sons Michael (Carolyn) and Mark (Kim) and sister Diane. He has five grandchildren: Britton Stotler, Alex Peterson, and Logan Peterson and Abby (Will) Stanek and Hannah (Andrew) Larson; and three great-grandchildren: Reid Stanek and Ada and Ellie Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Peterson, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charlie and Esther Christiansen.
