It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas “Doug” Crimmins on April 13, 2024, at his home in Fort Dodge IA. He was born on Feb 4, 1955, in Fort Dodge to the late Clifford and Geraldine Crimmins. Doug was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Doug leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Doug graduated from Fort Dodge High School and shortly after graduation he joined the Air Force to serve his country. Upon finishing his military duties, Doug embarked on a successful career in the private sector and worked at Georgia Pacific in Fort Dodge. While at Georgia Pacific, Doug received numerous promotions throughout his career at GP and ultimately was promoted to the Human Resources Manager for the entire plant. Transitioning in his career path, Doug left GP and joined the Webster City Hospital as the Human Resource Manager.
Doug was an avid music and history enthusiast, and he had a vast collection of books and music genres. Being a voracious reader, Doug would always engage in historical conversations as well as the most recent current events. And he had a vast music taste that had no boundaries.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother and father Clifford and Geraldine Crimmins, brother Jim Crimmins, sister Julie (Crimmins) Roest and his son Shawn Crimmins and his surviving wife Kelli Crimmins and their children (his grandchildren) Michael and Alex. Furthermore, Doug is survived by his former wife, Cheri Cerwick and their son Jason and his wife Nicole and their children (his grandchildren) Jayden, Kalen, Kyler, and Chloe.
Doug is also survived by his siblings; Cindy (Crimmins) McColley and her husband Mike, Shirl (Crimmins) Smith and her husband Greg, Pat (Crimmins) Day and her husband Dave, Tom Crimmins, Bob Roest (surviving husband of Julie), Jane (Crimmins) Graybill and her husband Mark, and John Crimmins.
In honor of Doug’s life and legacy, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday April 22 at Holy Trinity at 11AM in Fort Dodge Iowa to celebrate his life and profound impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Doug’s spirit continue to inspire us and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
