Dewey Evans

Dewey Duane Evans, 79, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. A graveside service will be held at 11: OO a.m. on October 10, 2026, at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport, lowa.

Dewey was born April 17, l947, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Clint and Rose Ella (Grossnickle) Evans. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, IA.

Dewey had a lifelong passion for automobiles and spent his career as a mechanic, where he enjoyed working with his hands and fixing cars. For Dewey, working on cars wasn't simply a job-it was something he genuinely loved.

Dewey was united in marriage to Peggy Eastwood, and together they welcomed their daughter, Beth Ann. Following their marriage, Dewey later married Theresa Morrow, and they were blessed with two children, Dee Ann and Daniel. They later divorced.

Dewey retired from Johnson Control in St. Joseph, Missouri. He also worked for 3 different Volkswagen dealerships in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri.

Dewey is survived by his daughter, Dee Ann (Steve) Lichtenegger; son, Daniel (Lori Blake) Evans; grandchildren, Nicole, Cara, Lee, Pat, Jesse, Max, Noah, Styrling, Hunter, and Beau; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Morry (Pam) Evans, Ted (Becky) Evans, and Lois Cook; as well as many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Rose Ella Evans; daughter, Beth Ann Evans McNulty; grandson, Alex; brothers, Don, Sam, Chuck, and Lvle Evans; sister, Imogene; and brother-in-law, Bruce Cook.

Dewey will be remembered for his love of cars, his years spent working as a mechanic, and the memories he created with his family and those who knew him. His life and memory will continue through his children, grandchildren, siblings, and the generations of family who carry his memory forward.
