Dennis Dean Nelson was born November 8, 1949 in Lake City, IA to Glenn and Helen Nelson. As a young child his family moved to Farnhamville. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Rockwell City. He attended school there graduating with the Class of 1967. It was there that his wrestling coach gave him the nickname "Fox" and it stuck with him the rest of his life. He earned degrees from ICCC and Mankato State University before moving to Colorado, where he lived nearly 50 years. It was there, that he met the love of his life and married Margaret Thompson on April 16, 1983. Fox worked retail sales until his retirement on his 70th birthday. Although they would have loved to have a family of their own, it wasn't meant to be. In January 2021 he moved to Gowrie to be closer to family and friends.
Dennis loved photographing his many adventures which included cross-country trips, a motorcycle trip to Alaska, hot-air balloon rides and many hiking and camping trips in the mountains. Each bringing a new adventure for him to share.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Sabrina Horton, Amanda Canny and his doctors and nurses at McFarland Clinic and Mary Greeley Medical Center for their kind care of Dennis as his health declined. He died of a broken heart and the effects of Parkinson Disease. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
