It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Delois Altman Carlisle, 66, of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on June 25, 2026, at UnityPoint Hospital in Fort Dodge.
Born on March 15, 1960, to the late Clarice and Lasalle Altman, Delois graduated from Fort Dodge Public Schools and Iowa Central Community College. In 1982, she married John Carlisle, and they raised their family in Fort Dodge. Delois was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in nurturing her children's creativity through music, poetry, and academics.
Later in life, she served as an aide at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge, where she formed many meaningful connections. Delois enjoyed Ken Burns documentaries, Westerns, Disney movies, and the music of Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, and Cece Winans. She also cherished her antique collections and conversations with her children and grandchildren.
Delois is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Conway) Berkley of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Amanda (Ethan) Perry of Story City, Iowa; her grandchildren, Nevaeh Berkley, Tyran Forte-Carlisle, Isaiah Berkley, Rowan Perry, and Alastair Perry; and her brothers, Danny (Angela) Altman, Michael (Kandi) Altman, and Jimmy Lee Altman. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Aaron Carlisle; her parents, Clarice McGrew Altman and Lasalle Altman; her sisters, Angela Altman, Diane Shivers, and Joanne Potter; and her brother, Larry Altman.
The family requests no flowers. Instead, please take a walk somewhere beautiful, call someone you love, or donate to a local charity in Delois's name.
