D.J. Bacon

D.J. Bacon, 58, of Harcourt, enveloped in the love of his family and in the arms of his wife he was welcomed home to heaven on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Stewart Memorial County Hospital in Lake City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Mission Community Church in Harcourt. Burial will follow at Washington Lutheran Cemetery near Duncombe. There will be a visitation Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

D.J. is survived by his wife Michelle, children Maggie (David) Clark, of Harcourt, IA, Daniel (Makenzie) Bacon of Fort Dodge, Joe Bacon of Harcourt, Jud Bacon of Harcourt. He is also survived by his parents Doug and Diana Bacon of Duncombe, sister Denise (Chad) Donaldson of Fort Madison, mother and father in-law Randy and Viney Mulder of Gowrie, brother in-law Matthew Mulder of Gowrie, and the many kids who thought of him as a dad.

D.J. Bacon was born on August 25, 1967, to Doug and Diana Bacon in Fort Dodge, IA. He was raised and educated in Johnston, graduating from Johnston High School in 1985. On September 15, 2001, he was united in marriage to Michelle Mulder. In 2003, the couple established their home in Harcourt. D.J. made sure his loved ones knew they were loved and provided for. He took pride in his ability to fix anything that needed fixing. D.J. loved being an Industrial Mechanic, the guys he worked with quickly went from friends to family. He was always willing to help no matter the situation. He knew he was 10 feet tall and bullet proof and lived his whole life in his own legendary fashion.

He is a member of Mission Community Church in Harcourt.
