Carol Warehime

Gowrie- Carol S. Warehime, 84, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.


Per her request, no services are planned.


Carol is survived by her children Cindy (Bruce) McCormack of Gowrie and their children Arron Ware of Ixonia, WI, Raegan Johns of Ottumwa, and Maggie McCormack of Heartland, WI; Dan (Michelle) Warehime of Bossier City, LA and their children Sara Warehime of Bossier City, LA and Tyler Warehime of Salt Lake City, UT; Lori (Duane) Heun of Dayton and their children Linsey Christie of Dayton and Lisa Anderson of Perry; Rod (Shelly) Warehime of Gowrie and their children Karlie Haris of De Moines and Taylor Warehime of Boone; granddaughter Amanda Murphy of Callender and grandson David DeBaun of Boone; 17 great-grandchildren and brother Galen (Candy) Williams of Council Bluffs.


She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Martha (Erla) Williams; husband Ross Warehime; son Larry Warehime; and brother Dennis Williams.


Carol Sue Williams was born February 14, 1939 in Spirit Lake, She was raised and educated in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School. After graduation, she moved to Cedar Rapids where she met her future husband. On March 25, 1960 she was united in marriage to Ross Warehime in south Sioux City, NE. The couple made their home in Gowrie and farmed SW of Gowrie until 1997 when Ross passed away. Carol continued working for the Gowrie Care Center and at the elementary school as well as delivering the Consumer News and filling in whenever she was needed cooking congregate meals. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens and had quite the green thumb. She took what she grew to neighbors and into the community center so anyone who would like could share in the fruits of her labors.
