Carol Mills, 77, of Otho passed away Monday August 19, 2024, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
A visitation and celebration of Carol’s life will be 11:00 Am to 1:00 PM Saturday August 24, 2024 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A private family burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
Carol is survived by her husband, Richard Jr; children, Richard Mills III of Fort Dodge, Jennifer (Bryant) Taylor of Bolingbrook, IL, Brandy (Todd) Carver of Fort Dodge, Chris (Shannon) Mills of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Brandon Mills, Bryson Taylor, Jaelynn Taylor, twins, Ashlynn and Madisyn Mills, Connor Carver, and Sydney Carver; great grandchildren, Saylor Mills-Crimmins and one on the way, Violette Mills; brother, Walter (Linda) Brown of Sherman, TX; several in-laws, many nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Irene (Farmer) Brown, brother J.R Brown, and sister Carmen Brunsky.
Carol Louise Brown was born on January 21, 1947, in Kansas City, KS. She was born and raised in Kansas City, graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1965. On July 2, 1966, Carol was united in marriage to Richard Mills Jr. at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. The couple established their home in Kansas City. In 1970 the family moved to Fort Dodge. Carol was employed at JCPenney and the Fort Dodge Labs for 25 years. Later she worked for E.M.C for 15 years before retiring in 2021. Carol was instrumental in advocating the need and importance of programming and schooling for children with disabilities. Her grandchildren were her entire world. She enjoyed watching them play softball and football. She watched them at cheer events and wrestling matches. She loved taking them to the bookstore, watching the Disney channel, gardening and preparing for Halloween.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
