Bernie Sells

Bernie Sells, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9th at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Gowrie Township Cemetery in Gowrie.

Bernie was born on August 8, 1939, to August and Rozella Olson in Hardy, Iowa. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Boone Valley High School. In 1960, she met the love of her life, Don "Jumbo" Sells. On September 4, 1960, the couple were united in marriage. To this union, three children were born, Donald (Maureen) of Scottsdale, AZ, Arnelle "Nellie" (Kenny), of Fort Dodge and Kevin (Karee), also of Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Badger and Fort Dodge. Bernie worked at Mr. Donut for several years and 25 years for So-Fro Fabrics. She worked various other jobs including Sun Market and Casey's. She had a great passion and talent for quilting.

Bernie is also survived by her grandchildren, Colin (Tiffanie) Sells of Mesa, AZ, Zach (Jessica) Sells of Fort Dodge, Brock Sells of Fort Dodge; great grandchildren, Cienna, Cannon, Tyler, Brayden, Cameron, and Rosalynn; siblings, and her beloved dog Jasper.

Bernie is preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Jumbo" in 2024 and parents, August and Roezella Olson.
