Barbara Wertz

Barbara J. Wertz, 79, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Friendship Haven.

Private family services will be held on Friday July 24th at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Walter Wertz, children Cindy (Dennis) Obmann, Mark (Andrea) Wertz, her grandchildren Kyle Obmann, Cody (Madison) Obmann, Korey (Hailey) Obmann, Jaden (Hayley) Wertz, Chloe (Brandon) Wertz, Drake Wertz, great granddaughter Addilyn Obmann, and her sister Pat Lee.

She was preceded by her parents, sister Janice Brown and brother Bill Brown.

Barbara Jean Brown was born on October 30, 1946 in Fort Dodge, IA to Robert and Grace (Hilton) Brown. She was raised and educated here. On January 21, 1967 she was united in marriage to Walter Wertz and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Barb worked for K-Mart and then at Payless Cashway from the day they opened their doors till the day it closed. She then worked for Younkers until her retirement. Barbara loved her husband, kids, grandchildren, and great granddaughter deeply and cherished family time.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
