Anna Mae Whittington, 93, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday July 18, 2024, at Friendship Haven.
Private family services will be held.
Anna Mae is survived by her children, Thomas (Joan) Whittington of Banning, CA; William (Cherri) Whittington of La Porte City, IA; Judy (Michael) Le Norman of Trophy Club, TX; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Anna Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son William, parents, Joseph and Mayme (Bunda) Katnik; brothers Raymond, Clarence and Robert Katnik and sister Mary Watterstrom.
Anna Mae Katnik was born on May 27, 1931 at home in Moorland. Anna Mae was raised and educated in Moorland, graduating from Moorland High School in 1948. After graduation she attended Iowa State Teachers College. She then taught country school in a one room schoolhouse near Fort Dodge.
On November 11, 1950, Anna Mae was united in marriage to Paul Whittington at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Anna Mae taught school at Corpus Christi Elementary school for 28 years. She loved being a teacher and often said teaching was one of the highlights of her life. She retired in 1988.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Church and Catholic Daughters of America.
She moved to Friendship Haven in her later years. She would say having 3 meals made for her each day was the thing she really appreciated about living there. She enjoyed playing cards and making friends.
