Ann Hammen Albers

Sac City- Ann Hammen Albers, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2025 after passing away after complications from surgery at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at St. Francis Church in Rockwell City. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service. After we are finished with the meal, burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pomeroy. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the church in Rockwell City. Laufersweiler's Palmer-Swank Funeral Home is serving the family.

Ann is survived by her husband, Edward Albers of Sac City; children, Colleen (Ken) Monroe of Jolley, Curt (Michaell) Hammen of Pomeroy, Brad (Katie) Albers of Des Moines, Leslie (John) Gustafson of Kiron, and Rafe (Rebecca) Albers of St. Charles; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Maulsby of Rockwell City; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Verne and Muriel (Wittmer) Fryar; first husband, Dale Hammen; son, Vernon Hammen; and brothers, Russell, Earl and Darrell Fryar.

Ann Fryar was born August 22, 1937 at the family home outside of Rockwell City. She graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1954. On June 7, 1958 she was united in marriage to Dale Hammen. Three children were born to that union, Vernon, Colleen, and Curt. Ann went to work as a bookkeeper, helped farm and the family spent time enjoying racing harness horses. Dale passed away in 1985. Ann moved back to Rockwell City and worked at the North Central Correctional Facility for several years. Ann met Ed when her and Colleen had gone out to eat. Ed came over and asked her to dance. They were married on November 28, 1997. The couple made their home south of Sac City. Ann farmed with Ed and continued their love for dancing. The couple loved motorcycle rides and spending time at the cabin in Bemidji, Minnesota. Ann loved spending time with her family and friends.
