AL HABBEN

On July 19, 2026, after a lifetime spent faithfully traveling the highways of America, Al Habben hauled his final load and answered one last call home. With the roads of this life behind him, he began his eternal journey on the streets of gold, where he was welcomed into the arms of his Savior and joyfully reunited with his oldest son, Chad David Habben.

Al was born on December 13, 1948, to Art and Donna Habben. From an early age, he developed a love for the open road, and for nearly his entire working life he made his living as a truck driver. Behind the wheel, he wasn't just hauling freight-he was providing for his family, building a life through hard work, dedication, and countless miles. The road became a part of who he was, but home was always where his heart remained.

For 34 wonderful years, Al shared his life with his beloved wife, Patricia, whose love and partnership were the foundation of their family. Together they built a home filled with laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love.

Al was a devoted father and grandfather who believed that family always came first. He was the kind of man who would do anything for the people he loved. Whether offering advice, lending a helping hand, sharing stories from the road, or simply making everyone laugh with his quick wit, Allen left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Habben; his children, Craig Habben of Rutland, Catherine (Chris) Holder of Branson, Missouri, Cassie (Eric) Dillon of Barnum, Tracey (Tony) Dalluge of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Jennifer (Kerry) Wilkinson of Emmetsburg; his daughter-in-law, Marsha Hanson of Gilmore City; his brother, Don (Sharon) Habben of Gilmore City; his honorary brothers, Harry Summers of Fort Dodge and Alan Janes of Hobart, Indiana; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Donna Habben; his brother, Dwight Habben; his honorary brother, Kenny Habben; and his beloved son, Chad David Habben, with whom he is now joyfully reunited.

Though the cab is quiet now and the highways stretch on without him, Al's journey is far from over. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply the values he instilled, the stories that will continue to be told, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

The final destination on Al's logbook wasn't marked on any map-it was Heaven. And while those left behind will miss him beyond words, they take comfort in knowing he has safely delivered his last load and is finally home. Have a good ride. God Speed Papa.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Al's life during a visitation at Laufersweiler Funeral Home on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A luncheon for family and close friends will follow at the Junkyard Bar & Grill in Barnum.

In honor of Al's love for the open road and classic rides, motorcycles and hot rods are encouraged, but all vehicles are welcome. And because Al was never one for dressing up, feel free to come just as he would have wanted-in your favorite jeans and T-shirt. That's exactly how he'd want to be remembered.
